Overview: Digital Design Previews allow you to review and approve 3D restoration designs before fabrication, ensuring clinical and aesthetic accuracy. Use this guide to add, review, or cancel design previews within the Dandy Portal and Chairside software.
Understanding Design Preview Availability
Digital Design Previews are 3D representations used for clinical approval, not physical products.
Available Products
You can request Design Previews for the following restoration types:
Crowns, Inlays/Onlays, and Veneers.
Bridges and Implants.
Full Dentures and Flexi Partial Dentures.
Product Limitations
Design Previews are currently unavailable for:
Partial Dentures (excluding Flexi).
Clear Aligners and Sleep Apnea Appliances.
Night Guards (excluding 3D-printed versions).
Pink Porcelain requests: Due to the current design process, we do not design pink porcelain digitally, so there is no digital representation to share. By creating a flange in the design, it serves as a designated recessed area where the porcelain will live. It does not visually exist until a technician hand-stacks it. This defined flange at the gingiva has been cut back or reduced to make room for the porcelain.
Add a Digital Design Preview
You can add a preview during the initial checkout or after the order is placed.
Add During Chairside Checkout
Complete all required scans in the Chairside workflow.
Select Yes when prompted to add a design preview during the ordering steps.
View the design Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) on the confirmation screen.
Press Place Order to finalize the request.
Add After Order Placement
Navigate to the Order Details page in the Dandy Portal.
Click the Modify Rx & instructions button.
Select Add Digital Design Preview from the dropdown menu.

Review the design ETA in the pop-up and click Add Digital Design Preview to confirm.

Note: Previews can only be added before the order enters the fabrication stage.

Review and Manage Design Previews
Once a design is ready, you must take action to approve or request changes.
Access the Design Review Workflow
Log into the Dandy Portal and locate the specific order.
Click Open Design Preview within the order tracker.
Review each category (e.g., Margin, Occlusion) on the left-hand side.
Approve or Request Redesign
To Approve: Select Accept for each category and click Continue.
To Request Changes: Select Redesign, provide specific feedback in the text boxes, and click Continue.
Finalize: Click Submit Review to send your feedback to the design team.
Compare Design History
If an order has two or more design versions, you can use the comparison tool:
Click Open Design Preview on the Order Details page.
Select the Compare design history button.
Toggle between different versions using the date labels to visualize how feedback was incorporated.
Tracking and Deadlines
Monitoring your preview status ensures timely production.
Order Tracker: The tracker displays the remaining days to approve or reject the design.
Automatic Fabrication: If you do not take action by the stated deadline, fabrication begins automatically to avoid delivery delays.
Notifications: You will receive an email and a Portal notification when a design is ready for review.
Cancel a Requested Design Preview
Navigate to the Order Details page for the specific order.
Click Modify Rx & instructions.

Select Cancel Digital Design Preview and click Confirm Cancellation.
Result: The order moves immediately into the fabrication stage.
