This article contains an overview of the various scanning tools available in Chairside. The use of these tools is completely optional but may aid you in the ordering process.
During the scanning process the following tools will be available for use:
Trim
Trim any unnecessary sections from your scans or adjust your prep as needed.
Tip: If you trim a locked area, the area will no longer be locked and will need to be rescanned.

Lock
Lock a specific area on your scan by painting it, preventing updates from further scanning.
Tip: This is particularly useful for stabilizing retracted gingival immediately after scanning to avoid collapse and potential scan quality degradation.
Center
Places the 3D model in the middle of the screen
Photo
Captures high-quality intraoral photos to aid diagnosis, records, and patient education.
Tip: Tap the scanner button to turn it on, tap again to take a photo.
HD Video
Capture high-quality intraoral videos to aid diagnosis, records, and patient education.
Tip: Tap the scanner button to turn it on, tap again to start/stop recording. Videos automatically stop after 10 seconds.

Stone
View the 3D model in stone color.
Zoom
Capture high-detail scans, enhancing clarity in crucial areas like the margins on your prep site.
Tip: This tool increases the detail captured, resulting in a finer resolution on the areas scanned with it.

Swap Arches
Swaps the scans between the upper and lower arches if they were mistakenly scanned under the wrong category.

Once all scans have been completed, the following tools will be available on the 'Review' tab:
Margin
Outline prep edges for precise restorations, ensuring perfect fit and aesthetics.
Tip: Add points with a click; adjust by dragging. Use stone color mode for improved visibility.

Undercut
Set insertion direction to avoid undercuts, ensuring restorations fit perfectly.
Tip: Ensure the occlusal surface and margins of the prep are fully visible, then click 'Set Direction.' Shaded areas indicate undercut; check for enough surface area above these for proper proximal contacts.

Clearance
Ensure there is enough space for the restoration.
Tip: Look for yellow/red spots on the prep; ensure at least 1mm clearance. Click on the up/down arros to increase/decrease the color scale.

View the 3D model in stone color.
