How to Manually Review Implant Crown and Bridge Scans

Step-by-step dental intraoral scanning review guide for Chairside, 3Shape Unite, & Scan Pro to ensure accurate bite & data capture for Implant crown and bridge scans

Review Scans in Chairside

  1. Check each individual scan step to ensure each one has a green check mark
  2. Start the scanner, then stop it immediately
  3. Check to make sure there is no missing scan data or distortions on each scan
  4. Check that the bite matches the patient's clinical bite 
  5. If the patient has a scanable healing abutment, skip to step 8
  6. Check E.P. scan is a scan of the tissue only. No scanbody or healing abutment in place
  7. Check S.B. scan has the scan body captured completely
  8. Check that there are no distortions on the scan body 
  9. Go to the review step
  10. Click “HD” on the left side toolbar 
  11. Wait for scans to load in HD
  12. Check scans to ensure there is no distortions
  13. Check to ensure there is no stitching issues
  14. Check to ensure scan body does not look like it is touching an adjacent tooth
  15. Double-check the bite scan is accurate to what is seen clinically
  16. If there are areas of the scan that do not look adequate, please rescan until they are

Review Scans in 3Shape Unite

  1. Make sure the lab selected is Dandy
  2. Check to make sure there is no missing scan data or distortions on each scan
  3. Check that the bite matches the patient's clinical bite
  4. If the patient has a scanable healing abutment, skip to step 8
  5. Check E.P. scan is a scan of the tissue only. No scanbody or healing abutment in place
  6. Check S.B. scan has the scan body captured completely
  7. Check that there are no distortions on the scan body 
  8. Go to the post-process step
  9. Click “post-process” under the scans
  10. Wait for the scans to load
  11. Check scans to ensure there is no distortions
  12. Check to ensure there is no stitching issues
  13. Check to ensure scan body does not look like it is touching an adjacent tooth
  14. Double-check the bite scan is accurate to what is seen clinically
  15. If there are areas of the scan that do not look adequate, please rescan until they are

Review Scans in Scan Pro / Alliedstar

  1. Verify all scan steps are completed
  2. Check to make sure there is no missing scan data or distortions on each scan
  3. Check that the bite matches the patient's clinical bite
  4. If the patient has a scanable healing abutment, that can be left in for EP scan
  5. Check E.P. scan is a scan of the tissue only. No scanbody or healing abutment in place
  6. Check S.B. scan has the scan body captured completely
  7. Check that there are no distortions on the scan body 
  8. Check scans to ensure there is no distortions
  9. Check to ensure there is no stitching issues
  10. Check to ensure scan body does not look like it is touching an adjacent tooth
  11. Double-check the bite scan is accurate to what is seen clinically
  12. If there are areas of the scan that do not look adequate, please rescan until they are
