How to Manually Review Crown and Bridge Scans

Step-by-step dental intraoral scanning review guide for Chairside, 3Shape Unite, & Scan Pro to ensure accurate bite & data capture for crowns and bridges.

Review Scans in Chairside

  1. Check each individual scan step on the top of the screen to ensure each one has a green check mark
  2. Check to make sure there is no missing scan data or distortions on each scan
  3. Check that the bite matches the patient's clinical bite
  4. Go to the review step
  5. Click “HD” on the left side toolbar 
  6. Wait for scans to load in HD
  7. Check that the margin is completely visible in stone and color
  8. Check that the margin does not fall within an undercut
  9. Check that clearance is within parameters for the material selected
  10. Double-check the bite is accurate and matches what is seen clinically

Review Scans in 3Shape Unite

  1. Make sure the lab selected is Dandy
  2. Check to make sure there is no missing scan data or distortions on each scan
  3. Check that the bite matches the patient's clinical bite
  4. Go to the post-process step
  5. Click “post-process” under the scans
  6. Wait for the scans to load
  7. Check that the margin is completely visible in stone and color
  8. Check that clearance is within parameters for the material selected
  9. Check that the margin does not fall within an undercut
  10. Double-check the bite is accurate and matches what is seen clinically

Review Scans in Scan Pro / Alliedstar

  1. Verify all scan steps are completed
  2. Check to make sure there is no missing scan data or distortions on each scan
  3. Check that the bite matches the patient's clinical bite
  4. Check that the margin is completely visible in stone and color
  5. Check that the margin does not fall within an undercut
  6. Check that clearance is within parameters for the material selected
  7. Double-check the bite is accurate and matches what is seen clinically
