Pre-Requisite

Scanning Steps

  1. Scan the Lower arch
    • If the restoration is on the Lower and it is NOT a crown under partial, scan the arch prior to prepping to record a Pre-Preparation Scan.
      • If this is a Pre-Prep Scan, Click on the teeth to be prepped after scanning
      • If you do not wish to capture a Pre-Prep, Click “Skip Pre-prep” on the bottom left of your screen.
    • If it is a crown/bridge under partial, keep the partial OUT of the mouth during this scan.
    • If this is the opposing arch, Scan the arch.
  2. Scan the Upper Arch
    • If the restoration is on the Upper and it is NOT a crown under partial, scan the arch prior to prepping to record a Pre-Preparation Scan.
      • If you do not wish to capture a Pre-Prep, Click “Skip Pre-prep” on the bottom left of your screen.
    • If it is a crown/bridge under partial, keep the partial OUT of the mouth during this scan.
    • If this is the opposing arch, Scan the arch.
  3. Scan the first bite registration on the side being restored.
    • If an anterior is being restored, pick a side.
    • If this is a Crown Under Partial, Place the Partial in the mouth prior to scanning.
    • If the Bite Alignment Fails, Click “Align Manually” on the bottom left for the screen.
      1. Click on a single point captured Arch scan
      2. Click on the SAME point captured on the blue bite scan
  4. Click Next Bite
  5. Scan the opposite side of the bite scan
    • If you do not want to scan the second bite, Click “Skip second bite”
  6. Click "Next"
  7. Prep the Patient following “Crown and Bridge Prep Recommendations"
  8. Click “Done? Continue”
  9. Scan the Preparation, starting from the adjacent contact teeth
    1. If doing a crown under partial, scan without the partial in place

  12. Click Next or Yes, Continue, based on restoration
    1. Perform same action for each prepped tooth
  13. If scanning a Crown under partial, Scan the prep again with the Partial in Place

Review Steps

  1. Review the Scans using the tools on screen - below are some helpful tips for reviewing scans
    • Click the “HD Scans” button on the left to see the high quality images
      • Dandy uses high quality for manufacturing, but only shows low resolution images to prevent computer slow downs.
    • Click the “Stone” Button on the bottom to show a grey image of the prep.
      • Grey images show true contour better than color, and are ideal for viewing margins.
    • Click the “Margin” button at the bottom to mark your own margin for Dandy to use
      1. Click on individual points around each prep to mark the margin.
      2. Click “Done” on the left when Complete
        • Dandy will always mark margins if unselected.
    • Click the Clearance button to measure the distance between prep and opposing arches. Refer back to Crown and Bridge Prep Recommendations for clearance values by material.
      1. Click “Done” on the left when Complete
    • Click Share Scans with Patient on the left side to send the images for the patient to review.
      1. This is great for instances where a patient is undecided about a treatment option.
      2. Fill out the form accordingly to send to the patient.
  2. If the Review shows a need to rescan, Click “A scan looks bad? Re-scan it” on the left
  3. If the Scan looks good, Click “Start Ordering” on the left.
