Overview: This article provides instructions for exporting and preparing DICOM files from NewTom CBCT software for upload to the Dandy portal. Following these steps ensures the scan data is at the correct resolution for implant surgery planning.
NewTom Software Export
Create a Destination Folder
Right-click on an empty space on the computer desktop.
Select New, then select Folder.
Type the patient's name to rename the folder and press Enter on the keyboard.
Export DICOM Files from NewTom
Open the patient scan within the NewTom software.
Select File, then Save in DICOM format, then Sequence of Axial Images.
Select Free Matrix when prompted.
Choose the patient folder created on the desktop as the export location in the pop-up window.
Click OK to begin the export.
Click OK on the final pop-up notification once the DICOM export is complete.
Verify Exported Files
Open the patient folder on the desktop.
Confirm that the folder contains several hundred .dcm files to ensure a successful export
Compress and Upload the Patient Folder
Before uploading to Dandy, the folder must be compressed (zipped) to ensure all data remains intact during the transfer.
Right-click the renamed patient folder.
Select Send to, then select Compressed (zipped) folder.
Note: If you are following a Dual Scan Protocol, zip the "Patient Scan" and "Denture Scan" individually and label them accordingly.
Upload the compressed folder to the Dandy Portal or email the file to ImplantSurgery@meetdandy.com.
NewTom Viewer Export
Create a Destination Folder
Right-click on an empty space on the computer desktop.
Select New, then select Folder.
Type the patient's name to rename the folder and press Enter on the keyboard.
Launch the NewTom Viewer
Insert the patient CD into the computer.
When the pop-up window appears, click RunNNTViewer.
In the document list that opens, double-click the patient’s name to launch the viewer.
