Try-in Denture has Bite Issues

If you are completing the denture try-in appointment and the try-in denture has occlusion / bite issues, please use the following steps to ensure the next try-in and/or final denture is correct.

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1 - Check to ensure the dentures are fully seated

  • If a major adjustment is necessary:
    • Aggressively adjust teeth using a carbide bur or a stone wheel until the patient can close properly.
    • Place bite with bite registration for accurate indexing.
  • If only a minor adjustment is necessary:
    • Use horseshoe articulating paper to help indicate high spots and lightly adjust using a carbide bur.

Step 2 - Scan try-in denture(s)
