Create Scans for Tooth and Tissue-Supported Surgical Guides

Overview: This article provides step-by-step instructions for capturing digital impressions for both tooth and tissue-supported surgical guides using Chairside software. These procedures ensure that the digital scan data is processed correctly for guide fabrication.

Capture Arch Scans

To ensure the Chairside software processes data correctly, users must follow the recommended scanning order.

  1. Lower Arch: Capture the lower arch by following a scan path that moves from the occlusal surface to the buccal and then the lingual surfaces. Select Next to proceed.

  2. Upper Arch: Capture the upper arch by following a scan path that moves from the occlusal surface to the buccal and then the lingual surfaces. Select Next to proceed.

  3. Bite Registration: Capture the bite registration by scanning at least four teeth and 2-3mm of gingiva. If the software does not auto-align the bite scans, users must align the bite scans manually.

Use Scanning Tools

Users can access management tools at the bottom of the scan pages to modify digital impressions:

  • Reset: Select Reset to delete the entire current digital scan.

  • Trim: Select Trim to remove only a specific selected area of the digital scan.

  • Lock: Select Lock to fix a selected area of the digital scan in place to prevent further changes.

  • Center: Select Center to align the digital scan to a standard occlusal view.

  • Stone: Select Stone to convert the digital scan appearance to a monochromatic stone view.

  • Swap: Select Swap to trade the current digital scan with a different selected arch scan.
