Overview: This guide explains how to scan physical impressions for full denture cases. Impression scanning is not allowed for any other product.

Overview of Physical Impression Scanning

Clinicians often face challenges when scanning large areas of soft tissue for full denture cases, which can cause the intraoral scanner to lose tracking. To resolve this, Dandy allows offices to scan physical impressions of full denture cases with an intraoral scanner.

Acceptable Impression Materials

Dandy accepts a variety of materials for the physical impression scanning workflow. Approved materials include:

  • Alginate

  • Polysulfide

  • Polyether

  • Polyvinyl siloxane (PVS)

  • Zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE)

Physical Impression Scanning Workflow

The physical impression scanning workflow is integrated into the standard edentulous arch process.

  1. Select the relevant Full Denture option(s)

  2. Select Physical Impression Scan when prompted.

  3. Choose the scan source: Select the option for "Physical Impression Scan" rather than "Intraoral Scan".

  4. Perform the scan: Use the intraoral scanner to capture the intaglio surface of the physical impression.

  5. Settings: Use standard scanner resolution and fidelity settings during this process.
