How to Add & Cancel a Digital Design Preview to an Order

Digital Design Previews let you review and approve detailed 3D designs of your restorations before production, ensuring they meet your clinical and aesthetic expectations. This feature streamlines your workflow, reduces chairside adjustments, and delivers confidence in every case. Learn how to review a design preview here.

This guide explains how to add design previews via (1) checkout on Chairside and (2) Portal, as well as how to track the status of a design preview once ordered.

How to add a Digital Design Preview during checkout

Digital Design Previews can be added to orders directly on Chairside during the final ordering steps of a workflow. The steps below outline how to add a design preview on Chairside.

Step 1 - Selection

After all scans are captured, you'll arrive at the various ordering steps of the checkout flow.

Select Yes when prompted to add a design preview.

Step 2 - Place order

If a design preview has been added to the order, the design's ETA will be displayed. Additionally, the expected delivery date of the physical product will also be displayed.

Please note: expected delivery date of the physical product is dependent upon your approval of the design preview in the Portal. Delayed approvals or design rejections will affect the expected delivery date.

After the 'Place Order' button is pressed, the subsequent order confirmation screen will again state the ETA for the design preview and the anticipated arrival of the physical product.

How to add a Digital Design Preview after order placement

Sometimes, you may change your mind and decide to add a design preview after you've placed an order on Chairside. Design previews can be added after an order has been placed through your Portal. The steps below outline this process.

Step 1 - Navigate to the Order Details page on Portal

On Portal, locate the order you want to add the design preview onto.

Step 2 - Click the 'Modify Rx & instructions' button

From the Quick Order Actions menu, click the 'Modify Rx & instructions' button to reveal a dropdown menu with two options to choose from, one of them being 'Add Digital Design Preview.'

Step 3 - Click the 'Add Digital Design Preview' button

From the dropdown menu, click the 'Add Digital Design Preview' button.

Step 4 - Confirm adding Digital Design Preview

A pop-up menu will appear, showing the estimated time of arrival (ETA) for your requested design preview. To proceed with adding the design preview, click the 'Add Digital Design Preview' button.

Step 5 - View the updated Order Tracker on the Order Details Page

The order tracker will now display the updated ETA for your design preview.

Tracking Design Previews

The order tracker on the Order Details Page in Portal indicates the expected date for the design preview.

Note: An email reminder is sent when the Design Preview becomes available.

Design Preview Deadlines

From the Dandy Portal homepage, Click 'Open design preview' to approve or reject the proposed design.

Note: The order tracker shows the remaining days to approve or reject the design preview.
If no action is taken by the deadline, fabrication begins to avoid delays.

How to cancel a requested design preview after adding

There may be situations in which you wish to cancel your requested design preview. Doing so moves the order into fabrication. The steps below outline how to cancel a design preview.

Step 1 - Navigate to the Order Details page on Portal

On Portal, locate the order for which you want to cancel the design preview.

Step 2 - Click the 'Modify Rx & instructions' button & subsequent 'Cancel Digital Design Review' button

From the Quick Order Actions menu, click the 'Modify Rx & instructions' button to reveal a dropdown menu with two options to choose from, one of them being 'Cancel Digital Design Preview.'
Click the 'Cancel Digital Design Preview' button from the dropdown menu.

Step 3 - Confirm canceling Digital Design Preview

A pop-up menu will automatically appear. Click 'Confirm Cancellation' to finalize the cancellation of your digital design preview request.
Once confirmed, the Order Details page will reflect that the digital design preview request has been canceled. The order tracker will update to display the ETA for the physical order.
