Select Partial Denture Material Options

Overview: This guide provides a detailed overview of the various material options available for partial dentures at Dandy, including metal, acrylic, acetal, and flexible resins.

Acrylic Materials

Acrylic partial dentures, commonly referred to as "flippers" or "temporary partials," are an affordable and easily adjustable solution for replacing missing teeth.

  • Material Name: Lucitone 199

  • Clasp Options: * Wrought wire

    • Flexible (available in clear or pink)

Metal Materials (Titanium and Chrome Cobalt)

Metal partial dentures offer high durability and strength. Metal frames provide long-term stability and resistance to fracture. Dandy offers two specific metal options:

Titanium Metal (Milled)

  • Clasp Options: * Metal clasps

    • Flexible clasps (available in clear or pink)

Chrome Cobalt Metal (Casted)

  • Clasp Options: * Metal clasps

    • Flexible clasps (available in clear or pink)

Acetal Materials

Acetal partial dentures combine strength and flexibility. Acetal provides a lightweight, biocompatible solution with high fracture resistance.

  • Material Name: Milled Polyoxymethlene Copolymer Disc

  • Clasp Color Options: * Tooth Shades: A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, C3, G2

    • Tissue Shades: Pink options are available

Flexible Resin Materials (Valplast and Duraflex)

Flexible partial dentures provide a comfortable fit and natural-looking aesthetics. These resins are highly flexible and resistant to breakage.

Valplast (TCS) Flexible Partials

Valplast partial dentures use a thermoplastic nylon resin.

  • Valplast Advantages:

    • Valplast is thinner and more lightweight than traditional materials.

    • The material is non-allergenic and free of monomer and formaldehyde.

    • Valplast is highly resistant to staining.

    • Natural colors help Valplast blend into the patient's existing aesthetics.

  • Valplast Disadvantages:

    • Clinicians cannot heat and remold Valplast for adjustments.

    • Valplast is difficult to fix if the denture breaks.

    • Relining is difficult once the material no longer fits the patient.

Duraflex Flexible Partials

Duraflex partial dentures use an ethylene propylene material designed for durability and ease of adjustment.

  • Duraflex Pros:

    • Duraflex is BPA-free and highly biocompatible.

    • The material is stain-resistant, odor-resistant, and color-stable.

    • Dentists can easily adjust Duraflex in a clinical setting.

    • The material is practically unbreakable under normal use.

  • Duraflex Cons:

    • Duraflex may be susceptible to wear and tear over extended periods.

    • The material can harbor bacterial buildup and requires frequent cleaning.

    • Duraflex is not simple to repair; a damaged set often requires a full replacement.
