Digital Design Previews let you review and approve detailed 3D designs of your restorations before production, ensuring they meet your clinical and aesthetic expectations. This feature streamlines your workflow, reduces chairside adjustments, and delivers confidence in every case.
Note: They are not physical products. Head to our article, How to Order a Physical Wax-Up, to learn how to request a physical wax-up.
Types of Design Previews
Design Previews are available for products such as:
- Crowns
- Inlay/Onlays
- Veneers
- Bridges
- Implants
- Full Dentures
- Flexi Partial Dentures
- 3D-printed Night Guards
Pink Porcelain requests: Due to the current design process, we do not design the pink porcelain digitally, so there is no digital representation of it to share. By creating a flange on the design, it acts as a designated area of recessed contour where the porcelain will live. It does not visually exist until a technician hand-stacks it. This defined flange at the gingival has been cut back or reduced to make room for the porcelain to be placed.
Limitations on Availability
It's important to note that Design Previews are unavailable for:
- Partial Dentures - all others besides Flexi
- Clear Aligners
- Night Guards - all others besides 3D-printed
- Sleep Apnea Appliances
Review Deadlines
Once the Design Preview is delivered, the order tracker will show the remaining days to approve or reject the design preview. If no action is taken by the deadline, fabrication begins to avoid delays.
Managing a Design Preview
To request a Design Preview for your case, simply indicate your preference during the scanning and ordering workflow in the Dandy Portal.
Design Previews can also be added post-submission of your order up until fabrication begins. If a Design Preview is desired after fabrication begins, then the order will have to be canceled and resubmitted with the preview included. (This will add time to your order)
- Note: Requesting a Design Preview will put your case on hold until you review and approve the design.
Click 'Open design preview' from the Dandy Portal homepage to approve or reject the proposed design.
