Overview: This article provides a step-by-step guide for setting up and scanning surgical guide cases for implant treatments using the Chairside workflow.
Configure Case Setup
To begin the order, follow these steps within the system:
Access the case setup menu and choose the Implant Solutions option.
Select Surgical Guide from the product list.
Select the specific teeth (sites) where the surgical implants will be placed.
Specify if the appliance is a tissue-supported or tooth-supported surgical guide.
Complete Intra-oral Scanning
The scanning process varies based on the support type selected during setup:
Tooth-Supported Guides: Perform patient intra-oral scanning for tooth-supported guides only.
Scanning Protocol: Follow the standard scanning protocol for the selected arch.
Arch Completion: Scan both full arches for completion. Scanning only quadrants is highly discouraged as it impacts guide accuracy.
Add Implant and Case Details
Include the following technical details in the order form to ensure accurate fabrication:
Implant manufacturer
The specific drill kit used for placing the implant
General implant lengths and diameters
Any additional pertinent information or photos (e.g., smile photos)
Submit CBCT Scans
Dandy requires CBCT scans to process accurate surgical guides and implant planning cases.
For information about downloading and exporting CBCT Scans for your system, please see here.
Submission via Portal: After submitting the order, navigate to the order page and click Attach to upload the CBCT files.
Submission via Email: You may proactively email scans to implantsurgery@meetdandy.com.
Review Treatment Planning
The Dandy Treatment Planning team will contact the practice to schedule a video call. During this call, the team will review the plan with the clinician prior to final surgical guide fabrication.
