Manage TRIOS Scanner and Laptop Overheating Issues

Overview: This guide provides instructions for managing TRIOS scanner warmth and identifying laptop overheating to maintain optimal scanning performance.

Identify Normal TRIOS Scanner Operating Temperature

TRIOS scanners are designed to run slightly warm during normal use to prevent the scanner tip from fogging. Warmth is expected to remain consistent while the TRIOS scanner is powered on. If the TRIOS scanner feels warm but continues to function normally, no maintenance action is required.

Identify TRIOS Scanner Overheating Symptoms

A TRIOS scanner may be overheating if the hardware displays any of the following symptoms:

  • The TRIOS scanner becomes uncomfortably hot to hold or touch.

  • The TRIOS scanner heat feels unusually strong compared to normal daily use.

  • Scanning performance becomes slow, laggy, or unstable.

  • Clicking actions within the software become slow or delayed.

Warning: If the TRIOS scanner becomes too hot to safely handle, stop use immediately and contact Dandy Customer Support.

Understand Laptop Temperature Impact on TRIOS Scanners

The laptop connected to the TRIOS scanner plays a major role in hardware performance. If the laptop overheats, the Windows system automatically slows down to protect internal components. This slowdown can cause the TRIOS scanner to become laggy or lose communication with the Chairside software.

Monitor Laptop Performance Using Task Manager

Users can check if the laptop is under heavy load by using the Windows Task Manager:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on the keyboard.

  2. Select the Performance tab in the Task Manager window.

  3. Review CPU usage and system activity percentages.

  4. Identify consistently high CPU usage (above 70-80%) which may indicate system strain.

Maintain Proper Airflow for TRIOS Scanners

To help prevent TRIOS scanner and laptop overheating, ensure proper ventilation:

  • Keep TRIOS scanner vents and airflow areas clear of obstructions.

  • Ensure the rear ventilation area of the TRIOS scanner is not blocked.

  • Do not cover the TRIOS scanner with sleeves or protective wraps during active use.

  • Keep all objects away from laptop and scanner ventilation areas to maintain stable performance.
