Manage Sports Guard Cleaning and Care
Dandy’s precise digital design results in a highly accurate splint. This sports guard combines strength to resist oral trauma with unmatched comfort. Please note that this sports guard does not include a strap.
Daily Cleaning Instructions
Dandy recommends cleaning the sports guard daily before and immediately after every use to remove saliva and debris.
Rinse with warm water: Upon removal, use warm water (not to exceed 45°C/113°F) to rinse the sports guard.
Apply soap: Use a soft, liquid antibacterial dish soap.
Do not use flavored or scented soaps.
Do not use soaps with heavy dyes or colors.
Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the sports guard with cool water.
Dry completely: Thoroughly dry the sports guard before placing it in its case to inhibit bacterial growth.
Periodic Maintenance and Cleaning Agents
For periodic debris removal, use a soft-bristle brush to clean the inside of the sports guard.
Approved Cleaners: Use antibacterial cleaning solutions such as Polident or Efferdent.
Duration: Soak the sports guard for only 10–15 minutes.
Post-Clean Rinse: Always rinse the sports guard well before use and dispose of the cleaning solution after every use.
Prohibited Substances and Actions
To prevent warping, discoloration, or material damage, do not use the following:
Hot Water: Do not use water hotter than 45°C/113°F.
Mouthwash: Avoid mouthwash as it can discolor the sports guard.
Abrasives: Do not use toothpaste or abrasive agents.
Chemicals: Do not use sodium hypochlorite (chlorine bleach), hydrogen peroxide, or alcohol products.
Extended Soaking: Do not soak the sports guard in any liquid for more than one hour.
Manage Usage and Safety
Follow these guidelines to maintain the fit and function of the sports guard:
Eating and Drinking: Remove the sports guard before eating or drinking. Consuming hot liquids while wearing the sports guard can alter its fit.
Dental Procedures: If you undergo new dental procedures, verify the sports guard fit with your dentist.
Professional Consultation: Contact your dental professional if you encounter discomfort, pressure, or if the state of the appliance changes.
Oral Hygiene: Continue regular brushing and flossing after every meal.
