Many doctors have trouble when scanning fully edentulous patients. The scanner seems to get lost when scanning large areas of tissue. Some doctors prefer taking physical impressions in these cases or ones that are challenging. Offices can either scan physical impressions whenever they encounter these cases and, in the future, mail them in for Full Denture construction
Impression Requirements
A range of impression materials is allowable as part of the accepted workflow. Practices may confidently use alginate, polysulfide, polyether, polyvinyl siloxane (PVS), and zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) as scanning materials.
Is The Workflow Different Than Edentulus Arches
No. We went ahead and added a segment where you can choose to do either 1) Intraoral Scan, or 2) Physical Impression Scan. There will not be an additional charge to scan this way. Dandy is doing this to help practices break through the digital barrier and elevate them with increased Product Line (PL) adoption.
