Manage Pre-Prep Steps During Active Scans

Users can choose to skip the Pre-Prep step for individual cases if the practice settings currently allow Pre-Prep scans.

Skip Pre-Prep Before Scanning

Before the scanning process begins, select the option to skip directly to the prep scan.

Restrictions After Scanning Starts

Once the Pre-Prep arch scan has initiated, the Pre-Prep step cannot be skipped. To proceed without it, a new case must be created.

Add Pre-Prep After Skipping

If a user selects Skip Pre-Prep but later determines a Pre-Prep scan is necessary, the user must start a diagnostic scan and manually add the file to the case via the Dandy Portal.

Understand the Pre-Prep Scan Workflow

When Pre-Prep scans are enabled, the software follows a specific sequence to capture the restoration arch:

  1. Perform Pre-Prep Scan: Complete the initial scan of the arch.

  2. Mark Teeth: The software will prompt the user to Mark Teeth immediately after the scan.

  3. Automatic Trim: The software uses the tooth marking to apply a trim to the prep scan. The prep scan is a duplicate of the Pre-Prep scan with the marked tooth area removed.

  4. Complete Prep Scan: Scan the now-trimmed area to capture the specific details of the prepped tooth.
