Scanning Multiple Implant Sites with a Single Scan Body Using the Lock Feature

This article outlines how to scan multiple implant sites with one scan body through the utilization of the "Lock" feature.

  • Ensure the scan body is compatible with all implants
  • If confirmed compatible - proceed to step 1 -  below.
    • If they are not compatible please navigate to the Scan Body page to order the necessary Scanbody(s)

Scanning Process

  1. Capture a thorough Emergence Profile, including the exposed tissue around each implant site down to the collar of the implant (capturing data down the channel of the implant is not necessary). You will also need to capture adjacent contact surfaces.
  2.  Seat the scan body in the most posterior position of the sites to be scanned.
  3. X-ray to confirm part seating.
  4. Scan and fully capture the first scan body on the Scan Body workflow step. Ensuring the scanning environment is dry will help with image capture.
  5. Enable the 'Lock' tool from the toolbar at the bottom of the page and left-click to paint and cover the entire scan body. Try to avoid painting beyond the component, especially staying clear of the tissue around adjacent implant sites.
  6. Remove and reseat the scan body in the next most posterior position.
  7. X-ray to confirm part seating.
  8. Scan and fully capture the 2nd scan body. Ensuring the scanning environment is dry will help with image capture.
  9. Repeat the lock function after each scan body.
  10. Repeat the lock function after each scan body is captured as needed.
