Overview: Calibration ensures the wired Trios scanner captures dental scans accurately. Learn how to troubleshoot and resolve 3D and color calibration failures on the Wired Trios Scanner.
Equipment Damage Inspection
You must inspect the scanner equipment for physical defects before performing any digital troubleshooting steps.
Scanner Lens Inspection Steps
Remove the scanner tip from the Wired Trios Scanner.
Inspect the scanner lens located at the end of the black tube.
Verify that the scanner lens is perfectly flush with the edge of the black tube and is not recessed or dipped.
Verify that the scanner lens is present and not missing from the black tube.
Check the scanner lens surface to ensure there are no scratches, spots, streaks, or rainbow discolorations.
Actions for Damaged Equipment
⚠️ CRITICAL: If you identify any physical damage during the scanner lens inspection, stop the troubleshooting process immediately. Do not attempt to calibrate the scanner. Contact Dandy Support for direct replacement assistance.
Calibration Issue Identification
Determine the exact type of calibration failure occurring on the Wired Trios Scanner to apply the correct troubleshooting workflow.
3D Calibration Failure
A 3D calibration failure occurs specifically during the 3D calibration process of the scanner hardware.
Color Calibration Failure
A color calibration failure occurs specifically during the color calibration process of the scanner hardware.
3D Calibration Troubleshooting
Use these steps if the Wired Trios Scanner displays a 3D calibration failure message.
Reconnect the 3D Calibration Adapter
Remove the 3D calibration adapter from the scanner neck.
Firmly reseat the 3D calibration adapter onto the scanner neck.
Ensure the 3D calibration adapter is securely fitted and that no standard scanner tip is installed.
Retry the 3D calibration process on the system.
Use Alternative Calibration Surface Side B
Attach a clean mirror tip to the Wired Trios Scanner if the initial adapter reconnection fails.
Turn the calibration target to utilize Side B of the calibration surface.
Align the Wired Trios Scanner and the calibration target according to the exact orientation requirements.
Scanner and Target Orientation Requirements
To ensure accurate calibration on both Side A and Side B setups, you must verify the following structural alignment positions:
Position the mirror tip so it faces completely downward.
Position the main scanner button so it faces completely upward.
Ensure the instructed target side (Side A or Side B) faces upward and aligns directly with the upward-facing scanner button.
Follow the remaining on-screen alignment prompts and retry the calibration routine.
3D Calibration Troubleshooting Outcomes
If the calibration succeeds using Side B, the original calibration object is defective and requires replacement.
If the calibration still fails using Side B, remove the current mirror tip, install an entirely new mirror tip, and run the calibration again.
If the calibration failure continues after trying a new mirror tip, contact Dandy Support for assistance.
Color Calibration Troubleshooting
Use these steps if the Wired Trios Scanner displays a color calibration failure message.
Verify Mirror Tip Installation
Confirm that a standard mirror tip is fully installed on the scanner neck. Do not use a protective plastic tip, as protective tips cause automatic color calibration failures.
Inspect the mirror tip window for physical defects including scratches, spots, streaks, or rainbow discoloration.
Replace the mirror tip immediately with a brand new tip if you discover any visual defects.
Calibrate Using Side A Orientation
Position the calibration target so Side A faces completely upward.
Verify the orientation: the mirror tip must face down, the scanner button must face up, and Side A must align with the scanner button.
Ensure the calibration adapter is fully seated on the scanner neck, then retry the color calibration.
Calibrate Using Side B Orientation
If the Side A calibration routine fails, flip the calibration target over so Side B faces completely upward.
Verify the orientation: the mirror tip must face down, the scanner button must face up, and Side B must align with the scanner button.
Ensure the calibration adapter remains fully seated on the scanner neck, then retry the color calibration.
Calibrate Using the 3D Tip Method
If color calibration fails on both sides, remove the color target, the calibration adapter, and the mirror tip from the scanner.
Install the round black 3D calibration tip directly onto the Wired Trios Scanner neck.
Initiate and run the Side B calibration routine utilizing this specific 3D setup method.
Color Calibration Outcomes
If the color calibration sequence only succeeds when using the round black 3D calibration tip, your standard color calibration target is faulty and requires a replacement.
