How to conduct your seating appointment

For best results, try one crown at a time while keeping the others in their boxes to stay organized. After selecting the crown that fits best, you can safely discard, store, or offer the remaining crowns to your patient.

Step 1: Unbox your crowns

  • When the case is delivered to your office, the crown boxes will be clearly labeled for you and your assistants as follows:

Step 2: Try in, select, and seat your crown

  • Try in each of the crown options to determine which is the perfect fit.
    • We recommend starting with the BASE IP CONTACTS crown.

Step 3: Provide feedback and receive credit

  • After you've seated your patient's crown, scan the QR code printed on the postcard included with your case package. Receive $5 credit on your case for telling us which crown you chose.

How to explain treatment to your patients

If you plan to share with the patient that you are trying three separate crowns, Dandy recommends framing this service as a 'white glove service.'

You, the clinician, are going above and beyond to give them a fast, comfortable seating appointment with little-to-zero adjustments. When making an major purchase, like a wedding ring - it is critical to try different sizes to find the perfect fit for you.

What types of crowns are eligible

Currently, this workflow is available for single-unit, posterior crowns using monolithic zirconia as the material. We’re actively exploring ways to expand this workflow to more case types in the future.

  • Note: Orders within these parameters that include a model are not eligible.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What are the details of 'Your first 3 cases are free' mentioned on Chairside? What exactly is 'free' for these cases?

For your first 3 eligible cases, you’ll receive the additional two crowns at no extra charge—only your standard crown pricing will apply. This gives you a risk-free way to try the workflow and experience.

Can I request a set of crowns for anterior or multiple-unit cases?

Not yet. This feature is currently limited to single-unit posterior crowns made with monolithic zirconia. We’re actively exploring ways to expand this workflow to more case types in the future.

Do I have to return the crowns I don’t use?
No, you don't! Once you’ve seated the best-fitting crown, you’re welcome to discard, store, or even offer the extras to your patient—whatever works best for your practice.

Will the extra crowns be labeled so I can tell them apart?

Yes. Each crown will arrive in its own clearly labeled box, making it easy for you and your team to keep them organized during the seating appointment.

How do I provide feedback on which crown fit best?

Just scan the QR code on the postcard included with your case and let us know which crown you chose. As a thank you, you’ll receive a $5 credit on that case.

Why would I want to try three different crowns?
Every patient’s prep is unique. The slight variations in interproximal contacts across the three crowns help you find the best fit with fewer adjustments—saving chair time and reducing the chance of needing a remake.

How do I explain the three crowns to my patient?

If you choose to explain, we recommend framing it as a premium service: you're going the extra mile to ensure they get the most comfortable, precise fit possible—similar to trying on different ring sizes to find the perfect one.

I previously had 'Free Early Access'. When did this change?

The change was made at the beginning of May 2025. Because this is a pilot only available to a limited amount of customers, certain aspects of the experience may change over time for our early users. With this transition, your first 3 cases will be still be free before additional charges come into effect.
