How to Access Pre-Prep Settings in Chairside
Please note: Adjusting the pre-prep scan settings will only affect future cases. If a case has already started, these changes will not add or remove the pre-prep step.
- Open Settings:
In the upper right-hand corner of the Chairside interface, click the gear icon to open the settings menu. -
Select Chairside Settings:
From the menu, choose "Chairside Settings." -
Choose Your Pre-Prep Scan Option:
- To add a pre-prep scan: Select option 1, "Scan, Prep, & Re-Scan."
- To remove the pre-prep scan: Select option 2, "Scan Prepped Arch Once."
Skipping the Pre-Prep Step
- You can choose to skip the pre-prep step during a case.
- Before scanning: You'll have the option to skip to the prep scan.
- After scanning begins: Once the pre-prep arch scan starts, you cannot skip the pre-prep step without creating a new case.
- Note: If your practice has adjusted Chairside settings to remove pre-prep scans, you won’t have the option to add a pre-prep during the case.
To add a pre-prep scan after selecting 'Skip pre-prep', you must start a diagnostic scan and add the file to the case on the portal.
Pre-Prep Scan Workflow
When pre-prep scans are enabled in Chairside, the restoration arch follows this workflow:
-
Pre-Prep Scan:
After scanning the pre-prep arch, you will be prompted to "Mark Teeth". -
Tooth Marking & Trim:
- The marking determines the trim applied to the prep scan.
- The prep scan is essentially a copy of the pre-prep scan with the marked tooth trimmed out.
-
Completing the Prep Scan:
You will then scan the trimmed area to capture the prepped tooth.
