Using the 'Patients' Tab in the Doctor Portal

Patient scans can be accessed directly through the 'Patients' tab in the Doctor Portal, making them available anywhere you can log in. This article outlines how to view these scans and explains additional features, such as downloading scans to your computer and sharing them with patients.

Patient names and scans become visible in the Doctor Portal after the following:

  • Patient names: a patient’s name appears on the 'Patients' list once at least one order or Diagnostic Scan has been submitted for them.
  • Patient scans: scans from orders and Diagnostic Scans become viewable after the order has been submitted.

How to View Scans on the Doctor Portal

Step 1 - Log on to your Doctor Portal

Step 2 - Navigate to the 'Patients' tab

  • Once on your Portal, select the 'Patients' tab from the navigation bar.

Step 3 - Locate the patient whose scans you wish to view

  • After you've clicked the 'Patients' tab,  you'll view a list of all patient names whose scans are viewable.
  • Select the name of the patient whose scans you wish to view.
  • Note: a patient’s name appears on the 'Patients' list once at least one order or Diagnostic Scan has been submitted for them

Step 4 - Select and view scans

  • After a patient's name is selected from the patient list, you will arrive at the Patient Scan page.
  • Select the case tiles on the lefthand side to view scans.
  • Scans will populate in the center of the screen, and can be rotated and zoomed in & out.
  • Note: scans from orders and Diagnostic Scans become viewable after the order has been submitted

How to Share Scans with Patients using the 'Patients' Tab

Step 1 - Log in to your Doctor Portal

Step 2 - Navigate to the 'Patients' tab

  • Once on your Portal, select the 'Patients' tab from the navigation bar.

Step 3 - Locate the patient whose scans you wish to view

  • After you've clicked the 'Patients' tab,  you'll view a list of all patient names whose scans are viewable.
  • Select the name of the patient whose scans you wish to view.
  • Note: a patient’s name appears on the 'Patients' list once at least one order or Diagnostic Scan has been submitted for them

Step 4 - Select the 'More actions' icon to access its dropdown menu

  • After a patient's name is selected from the patient list, you will arrive at the Patient Scan page.
  • Click the 'More actions' icon (the three vertical dots) shown in the upper righthand corner of a case tile.

Step 5 - Select the 'Share scans with patient' link

  • Selecting the 'Share scans with patient' link will automatically pull up the Share Scans menu

Step 6 - Complete the 'Share scans with patient' menu

  • Complete all fields in this menu
  • Emails and SMS messages are no-reply, so responses won’t be received.
  • If Send a link is selected, you will be prompted to enter your patient's phone number or email restively. This information must be accurate to ensure a successful send & receipt with your patient.
  • If Print a PDF is selected, a PDF will be generated for you to print and hand to your patient.

How to Download Scans using the 'Patients' Tab

  • Follow the prompts associated with following scan files to your computer.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Why isn't a patient name appearing on the 'Patients' list?

Patient names appear on the 'Patients' list once at least one order or Diagnostic Scan has been submitted for that patient.

When am I able to view scans in the 'Patients' tab?

Scans from orders and Diagnostic Scans become viewable in the Doctor Portal after the order has been submitted.

I found a patient name on the list, selected it, but no scans or case tiles are appearing. How come?

This happens if a patient was created in Chairside but not scans were submitted. Once an order is placed using those scans, they will appear. The image below shows a patient who was created in Chairside whose scans were not submitted.
