After completing a scan of an upper or lower arch, consider evaluating the scan for any discrepancies or artifacts that can impact case success. Below, we will outline the controls for effectively and accurately evaluating the scans. This article outlines mouse (or trackpad) controls when orienting the model for a specific view. The following is aimed to educate and aid in adapting to the digital workflow of Chairside.
Mouse Controls
Right click (and hold)
- When moving the mouse, the model will rotate. The model pivots and rotates clockwise as you rotate the mouse in a counter-clockwise motion. (and vice-versa)
Left click
- While left clicking also rotates the model. It is important to note that left clicks place tooth markers, place bite alignment markers, trim the model, and lock surfaces (when Trim and Lock modes are active)
- Double-clicking will zoom into a specific area or provide a different orientation of the selected area.
Scroll wheel
- Scrolling the wheel up zooms in to the area where the cursor is placed while scrolling down zooms out.
Scroll wheel (press and hold)
- This will keep the model static and prevent it from rotating, allowing you to drag it to view another area.
Trackpad controls
Right click
- When moving the mouse, the model will rotate. The model pivots and rotates clockwise as you rotate the mouse in a counter-clockwise motion. (and vice-versa)
Left click
- While left clicking also rotates the model, it is important to note that left clicks place tooth markers, place bite alignment markers, trim the model, and locks surfaces (when Trim and Lock modes are active)
- Double-clicking will zoom into a specific area or provide a different orientation of the selected area.
Zoom in/out
- You can either 'pinch to zoom' or place two fingers on the trackpad on scroll up to zoom out, or scroll down to zoom in.
Drag/slide the model
- The middle button (between the right/left clicker) on Dell Precision series laptops will allow you to drag the model while keeping it static or not allowing it to rotate. This is the same function as press and holding the scroll wheel as mentioned in the mouse controls.
