Comprehensive Guide for Equipment Setup: Cart, Trios 5 Scanner, and Dell Laptop

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for assembling your cart, connecting the Trios 5 scanner, and setting up the Dell laptop.

Ensure these steps are completed at least 72 hours before your scheduled training. Our team will conduct a quality assurance test 2-3 days before your Launch Training date.

Instructions for Cart Assembly

Team Assembly Recommended: Two people are advised for easier assembly.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Insert and secure the 4 wheels into the H-shaped base using a wrench.
  2. Connect the pole to the base with 4 long screws and washers, tightening them with the Allen wrench.
  3. Attach the smaller bracket (printer tray) to the bottom shelf with short screws.
  4. Place and secure the bottom shelf at the desired height on the pole.
  5. Similarly, attach the larger bracket to the keyboard tray and secure it at the right height.
  6. Follow the same method to attach the basket to the back of the cart.
  7. Finally, place the cover on top of the pole.

Setting up the Laptop

  1. Connect the power adapter to a wall outlet and the laptop.
  2. Turn on the laptop and connect it to Wi-Fi.
  3. Ensure continuous charging of the laptop during use, as the scanner requires significant battery power. 

Instructions for Trios 5 Scanner Assembly and Connection to Laptop

Scanner Components

The Trios 5 box contains the following equipment and accessories pictured and listed below include:

  1. Battery charger
  2. Batteries (3)
  3. Scan tips (5)
  4. Scanner wand
  5. Scanner battery charger power cable
  6. Scanner base
  7. Protection tip
  8. TP Link Wireless Adapter
  9. USB dongle (plug to laptop)

Step 1 - Assemble the Scanner

  1. Connect your battery charger power cable (5) with your battery charger (1) and plug the charger into an outlet.
  2. Remove the protective tape from the contacts on your batteries (2).
  3. Begin charging two batteries (2) in the now-connected Battery Charger (1).
    • The remaining battery should have enough power to enable you to connect your scanner to the laptop, but you will want to allow your batteries to fully charge before scanning a patient.
    • The batteries have 5 small LED lights, when all 5 LED lights on the battery are illuminated, the battery is fully charged.
  4. Remove the scanner pod (6) and place it in your workspace.
  5. Remove your scanner wand (4) and place it in your pod (6)
  6. Connect the TP-link wireless adapter (9) with one of the USB ports on your laptop.
    • You can connect this to the USB hub included.
  7. Restart the laptop after connecting the TP-link with one of the USB ports. 

Step 2 - Connect the Scanner to the Laptop

  1. Open Unite
  2. In Unite, navigate to the ‘More’ drop-down.

  3. Select ‘Settings’

  4. From the Settings menu, select ‘Trios’

  5. Select ‘Scanner Management’

  6. In the upper right corner, select ‘Add new scanner’

  8. Select ‘Trios 5’

  9. Input your scanner's serial number (preceded by SN), and an office name for your scanner. 



  10. Select ‘Next’
  11. Remove one of the batteries from the charger and insert it into the scanner wand base. 



  12. The Trios 5 should now show as your ‘Selected’ scanner.
