Dandy Trios Wireless Scanner Disconnected Troubleshooting in Unite

Overview: This article outlines steps to connect wireless Trios scanners, and basic troubleshooting for disconnected wireless scanners.

Manage Wireless Scanner Power and Battery

  1. Turn On the Scanner: Press the power button on the scanner. The status light will turn blue.

  2. Wait for Connection: The scanner will connect to the computer after approximately 15 seconds. The status light will turn green once the connection is established.

  3. Pre-heat the Scanner: Insert the battery and press the trigger button approximately 5 minutes before scanning a patient to prevent condensation on the tip.

  4. Monitor Battery Levels: Check the upper right corner of the screen for the battery icon. Replace the battery if low-power warning messages appear.

  5.

Automatic Shutdown: The scanner will automatically switch off after 10 minutes of inactivity if disconnected from the software.

Troubleshoot TP-Link Connection Issues

Trios 3 and 4 scanners connect wirelessly via a TP-Link adapter plugged into a base.

  1. Check for Base Damage: If the scanner fails to connect, the cable on the TP-Link base may be damaged.

  2. Test Direct Connection: Plug the TP-Link adapter directly into the USB port of the laptop or Dandy Cart to bypass the base.

  3. Request Replacement: If the TP-Link base is damaged, request a replacement through 3Shape. Dandy does not provide replacements for "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) equipment.

Configure Scanner Connection Settings

  1. Access Scanner Icon: Click the Scanner icon in the upper-right corner of the software to view the connection status.

  2. Add a New Scanner: If no scanner is listed, select Add Scanner.

  3. Locate Serial Number: Find the serial number on the neck of the scanner by removing the mirror tip. Enter this number into the software.

  4.

Select Active Scanner: Highlight the desired scanner from the "Added Scanners" list and click Select to enable it.

  5.

Use Scanner Management: Alternatively, manage these settings by navigating to the Scanner Management section within the Settings menu.

Moving Scanner to a New Location

  • Moving Full System: If moving both the computer and the scanner, no software changes are needed.

  • Moving Scanner Only: To use the scanner with a different computer:

    1. Navigate to the Settings page.

    2. Click Disconnect from scanner or close the Trios software.

    3. On the new computer, the scanner should automatically connect within 10-15 seconds if previously paired. If not, follow the "Add a New Scanner" steps above
