Crown & Bridge Scanning Best Practices

Below, we've outlined crown & bridge scanning best practice techniques that will increase the likelihood of success for your case:

  • Turn off any overhead dental lighting and loupe lights.
  • When beginning a scan, turn on your scanner over the occlusal surface of a molar/premolar.
  • Dry any edentulous tissue before attempting to scan it.
  • Retract the cheeks, lips, and tongue completely, especially in posterior cases.
  • Hold your scanner close (nearly touching) the teeth and soft tissue you are scanning, as the scanner is distance-sensitive.
  • Move the scanner significantly slower over edentulous areas or soft tissue.
  • Scan both full arches to completion.
